Our History

Jesus said, 'I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.'  He also said, 'all authority has been given to Him in Heaven and on earth,' then he instructed His disciples to go make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He also gave his assurance that he will be with us always, even to the end of the age. Pastor Bender answered the call of God and he, along with Pastors Mark Lyte and Quaicy Henry, visited the area in pursuit of establishing a church of Christ/ Christian church. As the pastors were evangelizing, most of the villagers received them with gladness, excited about having a new church in the area, while others felt that the area had enough churches.

Alness is a village in Guyana, South America and is the only English speaking country in South America. On February 2nd, 2003, Alness Revival Christian Church was started at the bottom flat of the Rajagados residence, behind the village office. In May, three (3) persons were baptized. In February, 2004, we hosted a crusade with Pastors Kenroy Clarke, Pearson Benn and a team from Barbados. At this point we were just eight (8) members, five (5) adults and three (3) children. God used Pastor Clarke and his team in a mighty way, persons accepted the Lord as their savior. Alness Revival grew numerically and spiritually.

In January of 2007, as it was customary, a week of fasting and prayer was scheduled. One of the many prayer requests was to own a plot of land to erect a place of worship. With no finance, Pastor Bender went out land hunting. The believers were so excited on his return to hear that the Crawford’s had a plot to sell to the tune of $2.200.000. Pastor Bender and the believers prayed all the more trusting God to provide; only to be told that they were not selling anymore. The members were disheartened on hearing that news, but Pastor continued to pray noting that “God will make a way where there seems to be no way” a line from his favorite song at fasting time.

In February of that same year, for our 4th Anniversary service, Pastor Arlington Pinder-Marshall from Barbados accepted the invitation to speak after two other Pastors were invited but couldn’t make it.  At that service Pastor Marshall presented Pastor Bender a cheque valued US$11,000 for the purchasing of the land. Everyone was excited about the great financial blessing and gave praises to God.

Subsequently a plot of land was purchased. With the help of Pastor Kenroy Clarke and members of A.R.C.C a place of worship was erected all in the same year. The church took possession of the building in October 28th, 2007.
